For years, Raising Cane’s Owner and Founder Todd Graves has been on the quest for the world’s largest pumpkin, and this year, his dream became a reality when he purchased “Rudy,” the pumpkin weighing as much as 20,000 chicken fingers.
The 2,741-pound pumpkin was meticulously grown for over six months by Guinness World Record grower Travis Gienger in Anoka, Minnesota. After traveling more than 2,000 miles to the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival in California on October 14, the pumpkin was officially crowned the largest in the world. Post-festival, the pumpkin headed to its final destination: the famed immersive Halloween experience, Nights of the Jack, in Los Angeles, California.
With the help of acclaimed carvers Eric Jones, Monique Hawk, and William Wilson – best known for their appearances on Food Network’s Outrageous Pumpkins and Halloween Wars – 2,741 pounds of pure Cane’s Halloween spirit came to life. The fully 3D, 360-degree carved masterpiece is the first of its kind for a pumpkin of this magnitude – featuring our ONE LOVE slogan, Cane III, bats, spiders and even Frankenstein holding a Cane’s cup. Using a variety of vegetables to craft the various details like fingernails, teeth and sunglasses, Jones and team perfectly meshed Raising Cane’s Culture with some timeless Halloween favorites.
Graves was on-site to unveil the masterpiece following the live carving of Rudy, which was the main attraction at the Nights of the Jack on October 30.
With Graves being a lifetime lover of Halloween, it’s no surprise that the holiday is eagerly celebrated by the Raising Cane’s Crew, too! Since the opening of the first Raising Cane’s 28 years ago, Graves began the tradition of gifting Crewmembers “ghost pops,” which are made from Tootsie Pops with a tissue, ribbon and face drawn onto it. Now a tradition that includes more than 65,000 Crewmembers, Halloween is a staple for Cane’s and Graves that continues to grow each year – as evidenced by the biggest pumpkin in the world!
See it for yourself at Nights of the Jack through November 2!
