Raising Cane’s Set To Make Iowa Debut

Popular chicken finger brand to celebrate Council Bluffs grand opening Oct. 11

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA (Oct. 6, 2016) – Beginning next week, chicken finger lovers in Iowa won’t have to cross the Missouri to get their favorite meal anymore.

On Tuesday, Oct. 11, Raising Cane’s will make its official Hawkeye State debut. The popular Louisiana-based restaurant company known for its ONE LOVE® – quality chicken finger meals – will open its newest location at 2424 W. Broadway, near Thomas Jefferson High School, in Council Bluffs.

Local residents should not be surprised if loyal fans – affectionately known as “Caniacs” – decide to campout overnight to be the first in line to get their chicken finger fix.

Grand opening festivities begin at 9:30 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Council Bluffs Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Matt Walsh. First-time visitors will be treated to traditional cheers and other high-energy chants to launch the location in unique Cane’s fashion, compliments of its 70 newly hired crewmembers. Doors open to the public at 10 a.m.

To add to the excitement, the first 20 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive Free Cane’s for a Year! In addition, the first 100 paying, dine-in customers ages 13 and older will receive a free limited-edition Cane’s Council Bluffs T-shirt, along with a voucher for a free Box Combo – containing four fresh, never ever frozen chicken fingers, Texas toast, secret recipe Cane’s sauce, coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries and a drink – that may be redeemed on a subsequent visit.

Hit music station KQCH will also be on-hand, playing the hits from the new restaurant between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“The Caniac population is large and growing throughout the greater Omaha area, but we’re really excited to be the ones to officially introduce our brand to the great state of Iowa,” said General Manager Mark Tyner, who has lived in the area for more than 15 years. “We’ve assembled a great crew and we are ready to become an integral part of the Council Bluffs community.”

Founded by Todd Graves in 1996 and named for his yellow Labrador, Raising Cane’s recently earned the distinction of being among the Top 10 quick service restaurant chains in the nation for 2015, according to the authoritative Sandelman & Associates Quick-Track study, based on food quality, customer service, cleanliness and other important factors.

Along with its focus on chicken fingers, Raising Cane’s is renowned for its commitment to active involvement in its local communities. On Wed., Oct. 5, Tyner and his fellow crewmembers volunteered their time at the Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church Care and Share House, where they helped clean the facilities and stocked the food pantry with non-perishables and clothing.

“We were very proud to pitch in at the Care and Share House for our pre-opening service project,” said Tyner. “And we’re excited about getting involved with the nearby schools and other organizations throughout Council Bluffs.”

Hours of operation at the Council Bluffs restaurant are Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 midnight. When it opens, the 2,700-square-foot restaurant will be the 291st location in Raising Cane’s nationwide system.
