  • Raising Cane’s Opens Newest Restaurant in Opelousas, La.

    OPELOUSAS, La. – (August 13, 2009) – Dawn Lopez, a New Orleans resident from Opelousas, La., made chicken finger history in 1996 when she became the very first customer of the very first Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers restaurant in Baton Rouge. Now, Raising Cane’s is returning the favor, opening its newest location in Lopez’s hometown where her family still resides.

    Today, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers®, one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains in the U.S., is celebrating the grand opening of its newest restaurant and its first location in Opelousas, La., at 1335 Union Street Opelousas, LA 70570.

    The American success story of a restaurant chain that specializes in ONE LOVE – quality chicken fingers meals -- along with a famously-secret Cane’s dipping sauce is now welcoming Opelousas residents to the “Caniac” crowd.

    “This continues to be an outstanding year for Raising Cane’s, and our newest restaurant in Opelousas is proof that businesses in America can continue to grow, defy the odds, reach more customers and do what we do best in this or any economy,” said Clay Dover, president and chief marketing officer of Raising Cane’s.

    Bryon Fruge has been named general manager for the Opelousas restaurant. Today’s grand opening marks the 47th location for Raising Cane’s in the State of Louisiana and adds to the more than 80 restaurants across 13 states.

    The first Raising Cane’s restaurant, which opened on August 26, 1996 in Baton Rouge, was such a hit that customers crowded in for chicken fingers until 3:30 a.m.

    The Opelousas restaurant will be open Sundays – Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. – 3 a.m.
